Friday, October 29, 2004 I had the pleasure of meeting Michael Ney and viewing his documentary titled Liberty In Restraint, a stylish expose of bondage in our society. It is often said that I have filmed more sex and violence than any other cinematographer in the industry, so I should be an expert on the subject, albeit my specialty area is plants, animals and insects. During my career I have filmed some of the most intriguing behaviors exhibited by animals that to us seem natural when viewed in nature, however it becomes very confronting when imposed on our own lives. In 1993 I was awarded an Emmy Award for my documentary "Webs Of Intrigue" that had an exquisite section exploring the bondage behavior of spiders. For me, it was not just the content that was important to me, it was the way I approached the filming. I was thoroughly impressed with the footage that Michael showed me of his work. I wish him all the best with the documentary, and I look forward to working with him in the near future. Yours truly, |
